There are personalities in the history of mankind who, despite the time, continue to interest and attract the attention of descendants. They are loved and hated, admired and cursed, but they are remembered. These people have changed our history to such an extent that entire eras are named after them. One of such personalities is undoubtedly Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin. Despite the endless stream of accusations and mudslinging against him, Stalin is still loved and respected by the people. Films, articles, and books about him are doomed to success, as new generations want to understand the phenomenon of this extraordinary person. And, indeed, it is astonishing how much this man, who inherited Russia with a wooden plow and left it on the brink of the space age with an atomic bomb, managed to accomplish in his lifetime! The subject of our study is the Soviet Navy. The book tells about how Stalin came to understand the importance of the Navy not only as a guarantee of the USSR's security but also as a powerful tool of foreign policy, and how he created the ocean fleet of the Soviet Union during the pre-war era. Despite the abundance of research and books about Stalin, this topic has not been separately addressed until the publication of this book. The author of the book "Stalin and the Fleet" is the well-known Russian writer and seafarer Vladimir Shigin. He has studied, analyzed, and summarized a vast amount of historical material, including unique archival documents, to create this new interesting and engaging work, which undoubtedly will not leave anyone indifferent who is interested in the truth about the past of our Motherland, the history of the Stalin era, our Armed Forces, and the Navy.
